Hey ass hat!

Scott | Uncategorized | Wednesday, November 30th, 2005

This guy took my Ann Coulter script and added to it. You can add swear words to names and remove them…awesome.

This simple script is based on the popular Renamer that made Ann Coulter into “right-wing ass-hat”. Cute. I figured, if you can add delightful swearing, why not take it out?

And hence, my script. It removes all those big-kid words that make rap and filthy movies so appealing, and replaces them with Utah-types of words. It also adds funny things to people’s names if they should come up.

You might think this is ridiculous. Well, it mostly is. I mean, who acutally edits the entire Internet to remove swearing?

I do.

If you think it’s dumb, you can grab this script and edit it yourself to add swearing. Maybe make every bad word a doublely-bad word. If that enhances your experience, by all means proceed.

Greasemonkey is about freedom, kid. It’s the lense that lets you see the world however you want to see it.

Enjoy.

P.S.

Functionally, in addition to removing bad words, it adds comments to Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, John Kerry, Howard Dean, and others. It’s a good time.

This guys is right, the internet is all about sharing…I love it!

Delivering high-speed Net access to all Americans within five years

Scott | Uncategorized | Wednesday, November 30th, 2005

Universal broadband–whether it’s delivered by Wi-Fi or WiMax, or hard line–will put all Americans, no matter where they live, no more than a keystroke or a mouse click away from the jobs and opportunity broadband both creates and supports,” Rep. Nancy Pelosi of California said in prepared remarks for a morning appearance at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

The suggestion mirrors a proposal by President Bush last year but appears to be more modest. The president clamored for a deregulatory approach that would grant broadband access to “every corner” of America by 2007.

Among other goals Pelosi presented: granting scholarships aimed at producing 100,000 new scientists, mathematicians and engineers in the next four years; doubling research and development spending, and boosting tax incentives; seeking alternative-energy sources that lessen the nation’s reliance on Middle East oil; and providing assistance to small businesses (PDF here).

If Congress doesn’t act soon, other countries following the U.S.
“blueprint” for technological pre-eminence will get further ahead, she said. This year, she noted, 70,000 engineers will graduate from U.S. institutions, while India and China will produce 350,000 and 700,000 engineers, respectively.

It didn’t take long for the announcement to transform into a political football, as House Republicans speedily pounced on the plan. House Speaker Dennis Hastert issued a statement warning that the Democrats’ plan would inevitably lead to “more taxation, litigation and regulation.”

Hastert also accused Democratic leaders of voting against several pieces of legislation considered important to tech interests.

It was unclear on Tuesday how the Democrats’ plans would be financed or when they might be introduced in Congress. Pelosi remarked in her speech, “we intend to submit them to the rigors of pay-as-you-go budgeting, so they will not add to the deficit but instead will grow our economy.”

Partisan politics aside, trade associations representing big technology companies were quick to praise the announcement.

Police aid robbers in Guyana

Scott | Uncategorized | Wednesday, November 30th, 2005

I wonder if we’ll see Region 6 Peace Corps volunteers consolidated in Guyana?

(via miami.com)

Police fired tear gas and rubber pellets to disperse hundreds of demonstrators who blocked a coastal highway in this South American country to protest armed robberies allegedly committed with help from police.

The clash late Saturday came a day after about 1,000 protesters used abandoned cars and flaming-tire barricades to block a section of the Corentyne Highway in the northeastern farming town of Tain.

The makeshift blockade cut off Guyana’s capital of Georgetown from areas near the border with Suriname.

The protesters were calling for the removal of several unidentified police officers who they alleged were working with gangs blamed for armed robberies near Tain, about 90 miles southeast of Georgetown.

Police in riot gear lobbed tear gas canisters and fired rubber pellets to drive off the protesters. At least two protesters were slightly injured by pellets, police said. Police used bulldozers to clear debris from the highway, allowing traffic to flow for the first time in two days.

Protesters complained that police observed but did nothing to stop a robbery last week in which several armed men held up a gas station, tied up employees and stole Guyanese $2,000. Witnesses said the robbers appeared to be wearing police boots.

Police Chief Winston Felix said Sunday that his office would investigate.

”If residents can identify the suspects as being policemen, we will deal with them,” he said.

Guyana, a former British colony on the eastern shoulder of South America, has a population of more than 700,000 people.

You can never go home again.

Scott | Uncategorized | Tuesday, November 29th, 2005

After a week in Guyana, I am ready to get back to DC and start working again. The week long reprieve was refreshing, Ulex and I are happy and things are going very well. I did little actual project work but spoke with many volunteers about upcoming initiatives. Peace Corps Guyana continues to tick, even without Kumar. Jim, the new CD, I hear is a nice guy though I didn’t get the chance to meet him. I skipped out on going to the office as I don’t feel akin to most of the staff their anymore after the whole Kumar debacle. Brian R. was sent home, turkey day came and went and Ulex and I spent most of the week together, I went for a visit to the Oasis Cafe but didn’t see any Mr. Khan. All in all it was a great trip thoug it was like graduating highschool and going back to visit your favorite teachers during your first long weekend in college. Nice, but totally out of place. Everything changes, you can never go home again.

Oasis Cafe of Georgetown, Guyana

Scott | Uncategorized | Friday, November 25th, 2005

I am sitting behind the keyboard at the haunt of my favorite online pundit at the moment. I am amazed. The Oasis Cafe is gorgeous, with jazz music streaming lightly in the background as patrons nibble on slices of pumkin cheesecake and sip their cappuccino’s. The atmostphere is light and the ambience is comforting. The servers behind the counter were quick with a smile and fast with an order. When I finished my drink, I asked about the internet cafe. The price was inexpensive but the fatastic part was that they offered wireless internet service. Awesome. I wish that the Oasis was here when I was serving as a volunteer and envy this luxury that the volunteers currently serving will enjoy. If you are ever in Georgetown, stop by 125 Carmichael Street and stop by the Oasis Cafe, you will not be disappointed.
