Guyana Colonial Newspapers

I received an e-mail today from a man that is busy archiving and preserving Guyana Colonial Newspapers. Apparently the condition of the archives in Guyana is poor and he is working to make sure the archives are saved, especially with the threat of flooding and general disregard for the collection.

If you want to check out the progress of the project, check out the site for the archives of the Guyana Colonial Newspapers here.

This site contains transcripts and images of early 19th century newspapers from the colonies that made up present day Guyana. Newspapers from this era form a valuable source of information as many primary sources have been lost.

This material has been transcribed by John Wilmer from microfilm.
