We saw Pete Yorn at Olsson’s in Dupont Circle last week, pretty cool.
I don’t want to doubt the timing of the terrorist story, …but I’m going to go ahead and doubt the timing of the story.

It calls itself a place for fans to share their favorite content regarding any topic. This one scores high on usability and stands a good chance of getting out of the tech niche.”

From Hope, a MSF volunteer in Africa – “12 year old Evelyn and her sister live with their uncle’s family in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, as their parents are deceased. Evelyn has Blount’s disease which is apparently hereditary 40% of the time and the rest of the time it is acquired. The surgery is intended to straighten her legs so that she will be able to walk properly and more or less pain free. Details of the disease and surgery can best be explained by looking up the info on the internet.
Evelyn’s family is trying to raise some of the money through their church and they don’t even know that I am launching this fund drive. My hope is to raise about $1,000 USD that will pay for most of the care related to her surgery. An orthopedic surgeon and an anesthesiologist will be donating the time and the necessary apparatus for the procedure. The money will pay for the hospitalization, medications and physical therapy. The first surgery will be in the beginning of September and the second one in December. It will require a lot of patience and determination on Evelyn’s part but she seems up to the challenge. Thank you for donating – and please send contact information so that we can thank you individually.”

Slipknot/Hotel Yorba mashup

I finished watching Doctor Zhivago a couple of nights ago, it was a truly amazing film. Omar Sharif didn’t win for Best Actor but he should of. Sound of Music was a good choice for Best Film that year, but Doctor Zhivago was a close second.

“Pheeder is a whole new way of using your cellphone: it lets you communicate with all of your friends simultaneously, with a single phone call. To use it, you just call Pheeder, leave a message and hang up. Seconds later all of your friends, or anyone you want, receives the message at the very same instant. And if they want, they can send a reply to your message.” (via unmediated.org)
