Senate to take Gonzales No-Confidence vote Monday

Considered to be the Democrats final attempt to ouster AG Alberto Gonzales, this symbolic resolution comes to a vote on Monday. The measure may come close to passage but lacks the 60 needed to move through the Senate. The White House considers this to be a political show and a “vaudeville act” though quite embarrassing for Gonzales.
After five months of investigations into the improper firings of nine US Attorneys, most of the important players have testified in front of Congress. It appears as though orders for the firings and placement of interim USAs in important election swing states came directly from the White House. Friday, the New York Times came out with a strongly worded editorial calling for the subpoena of officials from the White House which would include Karl Rove, Harriet Miers and other top aids.
