SixRevisions.com recently posted a list of 15 web based tools for monitoring the popularity and traffic of a website. Of these 15 tools, one of the most remarkable is Quantcast, which monitors incoming traffic and site demographics. From CrunchBase -

Quantcast is a media measurement service that combines directly measured audience data with panel-based estimates to deliver third-party metrics on websites for advertisers or others seeking traffic data. Quantcast measures traffic both on web sites and flash media such as videos or widgets. Quantcast uses what they call a Mass Inference algorithm to produce refined profiles that they believe accurately represent web audiences. Users can see estimates for gender, age, household income, and other demographic information.

Idealist.org ranks 5,122nd on the web in terms of traffic and our user base is summarized as -

a top 10,000 site that reaches over 299K U.S. monthly people. The site is popular among a more African American, young adult, more educated, primarily female audience.The typical visitor visits ihispano.com and attends Columbia.
